New York's Fran Seigel has been a dedicated collector of antique and vintage ethnic textiles for many years. Her studio is filled with kimono, sari, and soulful wearables from over 40 world cultures spanning the early to late 20th century. Eight years ago, looking for a way to preserve some of the distressed, yet gorgeous textiles, Fran's partner and husband Andy Pastorino developed a hand-fabricated jewelry process incorporating selected textile fragments under clear durable layers of resin over brass or sterling. Their one-of-a-kind cuff bracelets, pendants and earrings, proudly show off the smallest details of each fine embroidery, weaving, or textile design. In addition to their ethnic textile jewelry lines, the partners will feature elegant home decor treasures (textilegems.com)
